Singh’s Bala Da Dhaba’s owner Sunny Singh and his business partner Mani, were born and raised in India and have both always had the dream to one day open their own Indian restaurant.
Since migrating to Australia 16 years ago, Sunny has gained valuable experience within the hospitality industry, working at various Indian restaurants. In 2009, after discovering Bala Da Dhaba restaurant in Malvern, Sunny realised the opportunity had come to fulfill his dream and own his own business.
Originally, the restaurant was known as Bala Da Dhaba and had been operating alongside its sister restaurant in Ripponlea. Together with Mani, Sunny took over the Malvern business and changed the name to Singh’s Bala Da Dhaba to add his own personal touch.
Singh’s prides itself on giving customers a memorable dining experience by providing a friendly service, a relaxed atmosphere and using only the best ingredients.
The menu ranges from traditional Indian curries and breads to signature dishes from neighbouring countries like Nepal. With such variety of flavour, there’s little wonder why Singh’s has become the most popular Indian restaurant in Malvern.
Not only renowned for its food, Singh’s is also known for giving back to the community. They’ve catered for many local community groups such as Globe Café and are involved in St. Jack which provides a free meal to the homeless every Friday. Just recently, Singh’s also had the pleasure of catering for the Australian of the Year 2007, Phillip Wollen and the supporters of his Winsome Constance Kindness Trust charity.
Singh’s Bala Da Dhaba offers dine in and takeaway services 6 nights a week and also delivers to surrounding suburbs such as Toorak, Caulfield North, Glen Iris, Camberwell and more.
When asked what his plans are for the future, Sunny answered
“we definitely have future plans to expand the business , we’re just waiting for the right moment.”
